¿vaca naranja?

I get it. It may not make sense to everyone. You might want to buy from us because you just think our stuff is awesome. Well, gotta agree!

But that's not the point. Don't Bow to the Orange Cow has general meaning  - showing resistance and sparking conversations to counteract the rise of worshipful treatment of Donald J Trump by evangelical Christians.

I can write that with a sense of familiarity, because I have lived most of my life as a conservative-minded, evangelical Christian. I've been a youth pastor, worship leader, deacon, elder, a Christian missionary, and I am still connected by family and friendships to plenty of people who have voted three times now for DJT. I would hate to lose those relationships.

But, I see a problem, as this is where the meaning gets more personal. I genuinely believe that DJT is being hailed as if to be a savior, even to the point of people overlooking the teachings of our one and only savior, Jesus Christ. It seems DJT can do or say whatever he wants, and he is venerated regardless, all the while neglecting the teachings of Christ (e.g., Matthew 9:36)

In a sense, I believe they have already crossed a line, and continue further towards bowing before an earthly king, who demands (not earns) worship and adoration. In the Bible, there are a few parallels, not the least of which when Moses came down from his mountain-top meeting with God to find out his people had collected all their precious gold to create an idol - a golden calf - thinking they were honoring God (Exodus 32:8). But, no, God was not thrilled, and neither was Moses. They worshipped an image, instead of the image-Creator.

In a slightly different scenario, you have a story about three young guys who were loyal to the God of the Bible. In a period of time when they were under the rule of a foreign king - Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon - they were all expected to pay homage to Neb's fascination, himself. He had a golden image formed so that a religion could honor him. The three guys wouldn't do it. The story takes an amazing turn at that point, but I suggest you read for yourself. It's Daniel 3. You'll see the comparison. Maybe.

I think that's what's happening. God has something to say, but a huge number of people are so busy thinking their political hero can do no wrong as he rewrites the rule of law that they're completely missing that God has already provided His rule of law in the very form of Jesus, who is called The Word (in the ancient language, it is "Logos", see John 1:1-3). That means, The Law. You want to know what God's law looks like? Read the Gospels and see how Jesus lived, how he taught, what he taught, and especially how he treated sinners - not just the holy-rollers. You need to keep it easy? Look up the Gospel of John and read it. It can be done in a day or two of normal reading time.

Hence, my use of the phrase, "Don't Bow to the Orange Cow." Please don't ask me to explain the "Orange" part of that. If you know, you know.

So, dress in solidarity, and explain to those who ask (or even denigrate you) that we will not bow down to DJT. He is not God.

Even if you don't believe as I do, you can still carry the torch to say that we are not DJT's loyal subjects, and we will never be!
